Embed Videos in WordPress

It is recommended that you upload any videos you’ve created to a platform beyond WordPress (e.g. Vimeo, YouTube, Panopto). You can then use any of the below options to embed your video from that platform into your WordPress site. This will ensure that video files won’t use up the space in your WordPress media library.

Option 1: Use a YouTube Embed Block

Upload your videos to YouTube. If you only want your YouTube videos public to people with the link to the video, change the video privacy settings to unlisted.

Option 2: Use a Vimeo Embed Block

Review how to upload, manage and organize videos on Vimeo.

Option 3: Embed a Panopto Video

Panopto is Colgate’s platform for recording, hosting and sharing video. This is a good option for students who wish to keep their videos within a platform managed by Colgate.

Once you’ve created or uploaded your video, follow these instructions for sharing the video. Once you’ve copied the embed code, use an HTML Block to embed the video into your WordPress page. Copy the embed code into the HTML block to embed the Panopto video.
