Moodle Course Walkthrough

Are you working on a brand new Moodle course site and feeling a bit overwhelmed?

Are you wanting to take a fresh look at a course that you’ve taught a few times?

Consider a Moodle Course Walkthrough. You’ll get fresh eyes on your course from a student who has been trained in Moodle and accessibility and take away some student-informed, practical strategies.

Complete a course walkthrough request form to get started.

The walkthrough is approached with the understanding that your course may be in one of many stages of course development. It’s also understandable that your Moodle course is just one piece of the full course experience, so the student feedback may reference things that you cover in-person or in other documentation.

Feedback is provided by one of our Moodle Design Corps students. These students have been trained in Moodle general use as well as accessibility. Their feedback is informed by data they have collected from other students on what efforts can enhance the Moodle experience.

Topics Covered

  • First Impressions: The first interaction with a course site can shape how students interpret a course and orient themselves. These questions invite reflection on the Moodle course site’s clarity and tone.
  • Organization & Consistency: A clear structure helps students know where to focus and how to find materials. This section looks at how course elements are grouped, labeled, and presented consistently across the site.
  • Accessibility & Usability: Accessible design ensures all students can engage with course materials regardless of device or ability.
  • Communication & Support: The way information and guidance are presented in Moodle can influence how supported students feel. This section focuses on visibility of communication, clarity of expectations and opportunities for connection.
